Organization Description

In 2001 New Deliverance Evangelistic Church (NDEC) established a faith-based, non-profit organization, "Upper Room Housing". Over the years, Upper Room Housing has helped hundreds of families and individuals with credit and budget counseling, homebuyer education and personal computer training. We also established a Senior Day Program for persons aged 50 and older; it’s proudly known as our "50 Plus" program.

Accomplishments

Since November 2001, Upper Room Housing sponsored over 80 workshops. Thirteen hundred people attended, and approximately 30 % of participants (families and individuals) signed up for one-on-one counseling. Approximately two hundred ninety-seven families purchased homes

Additionally, well over 100 youth have benefited from our financial literacy, mentor, tutoring and counseling programs.

In 2013, we created a Senior Day Program that provides a platform for licensed Physicians and professionals to talk-back to seniors (age 50+) regarding Health, Safety and Financial Wellness concerns. The topics include Hypertension, Diabetes, Arthritis and Bursitis, and much more. Members of the program also participate in fun activities, such as Day Trips, Table Games (dominoes, scrabble, and puzzles), to name a few. Our Arts and Crafts classes are taught by members who have mastered the art. The Senior Day Program offers a holistic approach to networking.
